Graduates with a degree in special education who intend to teach students with mild to moderate disabilities, K-12, may be required to take the PRAXIS II Education of Exceptional Students: Mild to Moderate Disabilities exam (0542) for licensure. The PRAXIS II Education of Exceptional Students: Mild to Moderate Disabilities test measures prospective teachers’ knowledge and understanding of assessment, curriculum and instruction, and classroom management as they relate to special education. Test-takers are allowed one hour to answer five constructed response questions that require them to apply their knowledge to situations commonplace in the mild to moderate disabilities classroom.
