As a math education major, one of your requirements for state certification in middle and secondary general math instruction may be to pass the PRAXIS II Mathematics Proofs, Models, and Problems Part 1 Exam. The test, which costs $80, lasts one hour. During the test, you may use a graphing calculator. Be sure to bring your own. Calculators will not be available through test administrators.
The PRAXIS II Mathematics: Proofs, Models, and Problems Part I Exam is divided into four weighted sections. The first two sections are worth 30 percent of the total exam grade. Sections three and four are weighted 20 percent each. In Section I, you must write a proof. In Section II, you must respond to a mathematical model. Sections three and four consist of math problems.
